Ielts Academic writing Task 1 - The diagrams show changes to a university campus between 1985 and the present day.

Changes in University Campus

The diagrams show changes to a university campus between 1985 and the present day.

The given diagram depicts the changes incorporated in a university campus between 1985 and the today.

In 1985 the three science blocks (physics, chemistry and biology) were housed in separate premises which now have been integrated into single building called science laboratories.

The library block has been extended by adding IT center to it. Furthermore, the administration block has also been retained in the south eastern part of campus though its size has been reduced. There were two car parking areas in 1985. The parking in south west has given way to shuttle bus terminal.  Similarly, the parking in north eastern part has been built upon to accommodate lecture theatre.

One other major change incorporated in the campus layout  is removal of road surface except one connecting shuttle bus terminal with outside world. The roads have been replaced by footpaths which connect all the buildings and blocks. The campus now also has many trees which give it a greener look.

The campus is now more greener and organized than before.

When the fruit is taken out for canning, grading procedure is carried out to ensure that fruit is uniform in size. After the completion of evaluation, the fruit skin is peeled and cut into equal sized pieces besides removing the cores.

These equally cut pieces are then put into the cans that contain sugar syrup. After the completion of this procedure, the can is finally sealed  with machine operated devices and finally cooked to sterilize the contents and cans. Ielts Academic Writing task 1 The maps below show changes that took place in Brandenburg

The maps below show changes that took place in Brandenburg in over a 20-year period from 1990 to 2010.

The Maps illustrate changes in landscape in the coastal town of Brandenburg between 1990 and 2010 as a result of development. Substantial changes took place in the outlook of this area as it turned into a bustling industrial town.

In 1990, Brandenburg had very few facilities and built up structures. The eastern side of the river had a hospital, a school and sparsely built residential areas. The railway line ended at the station.
Brandenburg changed significantly between 1990 and 2010. The town witnessed upheaval both in terms of activities and population. This resulted in erection of numerous buildings and parallel reduction of green areas. The area on eastern banks of river witnessed construction of airport, newer housing colonies, docks for ferries and industry. The railway line has been extended to that runs parallel to sea shore and crosses river to head west.

The western shores now has a super market with several high rise buildings replacing old residential blocks. Some housing areas have been dismantled on this side of river.

Ielts Academic Writing Task 1 - Pie Chart

Land Degradation

The given pie chart illustrates major causes of worldwide land quality deterioration during 1990s, whereas the table highlights reasons of land degradation in three regions.

Over-grazing (35%) was the primary reason of worldwide land quality deterioration followed by shrinking forest cover, over cultivation and other causes with corresponding figures of 35 %, 30% and 28% respectively.

The table compares causes of land degradation in North America, Europe and Oceania.  Europe lost major parcel of land, i.e. 23%, while percentage of land deteriorated in North America is merely 5%. The primary cause of land degradation in Europe is reducing forest cover (9.8%) whereas, North America lost most of its land due to agriculture (3.3%)  and in case of Oceania use of land as pastures accounted for maximum loss of land (11.3%).

In addition, deforestation in Europe was much higher than North America and Oceania. Over use of land for agriculture was quite expansive in North America and Europe, except Oceania.

In conclusion, over-grazing was main reason of worldwide degradation in 1990s.
