The maps below show
changes that took place in Brandenburg in over a 20-year period from 1990 to
2010.
The Maps illustrate changes in
landscape in the coastal town of Brandenburg between 1990 and 2010 as a result of
development. Substantial changes took place in the outlook of this area as it
turned into a bustling industrial town.
In 1990, Brandenburg had very
few facilities and built up structures. The eastern side of the river had a
hospital, a school and sparsely built residential areas. The railway line ended
at the station.
Brandenburg changed
significantly between 1990 and 2010. The town witnessed
upheaval both in terms of activities and population. This resulted in erection
of numerous buildings and parallel reduction of green areas. The area on eastern
banks of river witnessed construction of airport, newer housing colonies, docks
for ferries and industry. The railway line has been extended to that runs
parallel to sea shore and crosses river to head west.
The western shores now has a
super market with several high rise buildings replacing old residential blocks.
Some housing areas have been dismantled on this side of river.
