Ielts Academic Writing Task 1 Tables



The Table Below gives information about changes in modes of travel in England between 1985 and 2000.

The given table highlights shift in preferences of English in terms of use of various mediums of transportation between 1985 and 2000.

A clear decline in inclination was noticed, among English, to travelling on foot (237 miles in 2000 in comparison to 255 miles in 1985);  using a bicycle (41 miles in 2000 down from 51 miles in 1985; and local buses (covered 274 miles in 2000 instead of 429 miles as in 1985).

On the other hand, preferences of people towards mediums like cars, long distance buses, trains, taxis and other modes rose in the corresponding 15 year period, i.e. 4806 in 2000 from 3199 in 1985; 124 in 2000 from 54 in 1985; 366 miles in 2000 from 286 miles in 1985; 42 miles in 2000 up from 13 miles in 1985; 585 in 2000 from 450 in 1985 respectively.

To sum up, in the 15 year period a noticeable change in use of various mediums of transport was observed in England.

The flowchart illustrates the production of colored plastic paper clips in a small factory.Write a report for a university tutor describing the production process. Write at least 150 words.

The depicted flowchart depicts the manufacturing process of plastic paper clips in a small factory.
The process of manufacturing paper clips starts with molten plastic being poured into the moulds, namely blue, red and yellow, to get paper clips of these colors. After molding, the clips are tested for their endurance with help of a quality control machine and the clips not found appropriate are rejected.
The clips fulfilling the design and strength parameters are assorted by hand in a pre-established pattern or as per the queries received into batches of mixed colors and single colors. After the completion of sorting process, the pieces are subject to yet another quality control process is undertaken to ensure exact distribution of color mix or single colors as per   requirements. After completion of this final stage, the clips are packed and shipped to the markets.

To conclude, the manufacturing process of plastic paper clips involves four stages starting with molding to final dispatch.

The Charts below give information about USA Marriage and Divorce rates between 1970 and 2000 and the marital status of adult Americans in 2 of the years. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting following features and make comparisons where relevant. 
 
Number of Marriages and Divorces 
The given bar graphs illustrate changes in trend of marriage, divorce and marital status among Americans between 1970 and 2000.

In 1970, 2.5 million Americans tied nuptials while 1 million people sought divorces. From 1970 to 1980, no change in number of marriages was observed whereas, number of couples seeking legal separation rose. From 1980 to 1990 lesser number of Americans married and sought legal separations. The number of marriages and divorces from 1990 to 2000 continued to fall to 2 million and 1 million respectively.  

Similarly, the bar diagram illustrating the marital status of American inhabitants shows that number of individuals who never wedded and who got legally separated rose in the 30 year period between 1970 and 2000.

On the other hand, inclination to marry decreased among Americans between 1970 and 2000. Similarly, there was a decline in number of widowed people in the corresponding period.


To conclude, more and more people in USA are willing to spend their lives single.
