Academic Task 1 - Underground Railway Density in Six Cities

Undergraund Railways

The given table compares the underground rail networks of six cities namely LONDON, PARIS, TOKYO, WASHINGTON D.C., KYOTO AND LOSANGELES.
Tokyo undergoes train networks registers heaviest passenger traffic, annually with over 1927 million people travelling over 155 kilometers of network established in 1927.
Paris where tube was introduced in 1900 follows in close with 1191 million people travelling over 199 kilometers.
Similarly, the oldest of the six networks which was opened to public in 1865 i.e. London carries 776 million pax per year.
On the other hand, Washington D.C. which opened tube services in 1976 caters to 144 million people annually over 126 kilometers.
Similarly Los Angeles which has the youngest underground system (established in 2001) has a total length of 28kilometeres carries 45 million people every year.
With a mere eleven kilometer stretch, Kyoto has the shortest tube network among the given six cities. It was established in 1981 and it carries 45 million people on yearly basis.
To sum up, Tokyo has the highest tube passenger density whereas lesser number of people depend on underground networks in cities like Kyoto and Los Angeles.
