Ielts Academic Writing Task 1 - Energy use in Australian Homes |
The given pie chart and the table indicate at the percentage
of electricity used for purposes by Australians at their homes and units of
power consumed by families of varying sizes.
A major share of energy, 63%, is consumed cumulatively by
activities such as Heating and cooling – 38%, and water heating – 25%. This is
followed by other appliances such as clothes and dish washers, 16%. Lighting and
freezers use 7% each, while cooking and stand-by power use negligible amount,
4% and 3% respectively.
The table clearly illustrates that per capita consumption of
energy decreases as the number of family member rises. This is clearly elaborated by the comparable
figures, like while a family with one member uses 5000-6500 KWH annually, families
having 2 members use only slightly higher between 6000 to 8000 KWH per year. Similarly,
families having 3 members consume between 7500 to 10000 KWH in a year and where 6 or more
family member reside that household consume between 12000 to 16000 KWH annually.
