In
1970, 2.5 million Americans tied nuptials while 1 million people sought
divorces. From 1970 to 1980, no change in number of marriages was observed
whereas, number of couples seeking legal separation rose. From 1980 to 1990
lesser number of Americans married and sought legal separations. The number of
marriages and divorces from 1990 to 2000 continued to fall to 2 million and 1
million respectively.
Similarly,
the bar diagram illustrating the marital status of American inhabitants shows
that number of individuals who never wedded and who got legally separated rose
in the 30 year period between 1970 and 2000.
On
the other hand, inclination to marry decreased among Americans between 1970 and
2000. Similarly, there was a decline in number of widowed people in the
