Ielts Academic Writing Task 1 Diagrams The diagram below shows how electricity is generated in a hydroelectric power station

The diagram below shows how electricity is generated in a hydroelectric power station.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words

The given diagram describes the process of electricity production in a dam with reversible turbines.

Overall, such an electricity generation facility requires a dam with two reservoirs, upper and lower, a tunnel to channelize water, a reversible turbine, and a generator. This installation generates electricity during the day.

During the day, water from the high-level reservoir behind the dam, which is sent to the low-level reservoir with the help of the tunnel by opening the intake. The water, while flowing towards the lower reservoir passes through the power station, driving reversible turbines in the process. The turbines in turn drive the generator which produces electricity. The electricity generated is supplied to the national grid with help of power cables.

During the night, the intake is closed in the high-level reservoir, and water is pumped back to the this reservoir from the low-level using reversible turbines, which start working backwards, and  with the help of the water tunnel, pump back the water to the high-level reservoir.

Ielts Writing Task 1 Diagrams Dam

The given diagram elucidates functioning of a hydroelectric production unit.

Overall, the hydroelectric power production installation is largely divided into 4 primary parts, high level reservoir behind the dam, a channel to pump water to the turbine in the day and back to high level reservoir at night, a power station which has reversible turbines and a generator, and a low level reservoir. This unit produces electricity in the day.

The water stored in large reservoir behind the dam is channelized towards the low reservoir by opening the intake during the day. The water while flowing towards low reservoir runs the reversible turbines, housed at the base of power station, which in turn operate generator, producing electricity. The electricity is supplied to the grid with the  help of power lines. This operation takes place in the day.

In the night, the electricity generation is halted and water from the low reservoir is pumped back into the high reservoir with the turbines operating in reverse direction.

Ielts Academic Writing task 1 - Graphs and table
The graph and table elucidate alterations in exports and value of 5 categories of goods in a country in two years, 2015 and 2016
Overall, patterns of changes in exports and value of supplied categories correspond to each other, where textiles witnessed an exponential jump in exports and value, gems and jewellery saw a decline.
In case of exports, biggest jump was seen in textiles, rising from approximately $35 to $40 billion, this was followed by engineering goods from nearly 63 to almost 70 billions, petroleum products from 70 to 72 billions approximately, and agri-products from 38 to 40 billions. However, the exports of gems and jewellery saw a downfall from almost 52 to almost 50 billions.
Similarly, when assessing the changes in the value, an identical pattern can be observed where the highest value addition took place in textiles, 15.24%, followed by engineering, petroleum, agriculture which saw addition of 8%, 3% and 5.18% respectively. In contrast, gem and jewellery registered a fall of .81%

Ielts Writing Task 1 -
The given diagrams elucidate stages in evolution of simple cooking apparatus in three stages.

The primitive  design was very simple that made use of three stones arranged in a manner, triangular shape  to support the cooking vessel. The wood of fuel was simply lit under the vessel.

With the time, some improvements in the design were affected to make cooking easier. A clay shield was built around the three stones, and an opening was left for insertion of the fuel. As can be observed, this design aimed at protecting the fire, lit under the pot, from the winds. Rest of the design was almost similar.

The more advanced specimen, made of metal, used for cooking is completely different from its predecessors. This design has two portions, upper and lower chamber. While the upper chamber has a clay lining, handles to hold, three supports for the cooking pot, and a grate for holding charcoal, the lower part with a door is meant for inlet of air and disposal of ash.

Ielts Academic Writing task 1 - Coastal Village
The given diagrams depict the changes in a coastal village after its development into a big European tourist resort, between 1974 and 2004.

It can be easily observed that the fishing village and surrounding areas underwent a sea change in a matter of 3 decades. The population of this area rose from 12000 to 80,000, and it swells to 130,000 during the tourist season.

The village itself witnessed an expansion, as construction of new tourist shops was done to cater to the tourists. Besides this, what used to be a harbor in 1974 gave way to beaches. The beaches are now lined up by high rise hotels that cover most of the coastline, and also surround the fishing village.

The natural woodlands and olive orchids were also replaced by golf course, for tourists, and farmlands, that feed the travelers, respectively. The pastures also disappeared.

A road was also constructed to connect this region with other parts of the world, and this runs from the beach and through the village.
